Risk management integrated into the strategy in Higher Education Institutions

Abstrak

Risk management highlights the importance of integrating the strategy-performance-risk axes to meet goals and objectives. Precisely the objective of this work is to analyze risk management integrated into strategy in higher education institutions, based on the five components proposed by the COSO IV report “Business risk management integrating strategy and performance”. Theoretical methods such as historical-logical, analysis and synthesis and induction-deduction were used. The results show an approach to risk in university strategies, the implementation of risk management focused on higher education, and the experiences on the subject in these establishments in several countries of the Ibero-American region, based on the bibliographic review carried out. It is concluded that in the implementation of risk management in higher education, the focus has been on the evaluation phase and establishment of the context, ignoring the “government and culture” component as a critical element in the establishment of a culture of control, and move towards the new model.
